60th Birthday & A 50th Birthday

Had a busy day today with a bit of shopping then making a birthday tea for my Dad who is 72 on Monday, so this is just a quick post before I head off to bed , I needed a 60th and a 50th card in a hurry so decided it would be quicker to use the same layout with a variation on colour and embellishments , these are what I came up with.

My friends hubby asked me to make this for her birthday, she loves red so had to put some in it somewhere, the papers are from Papermania , the flower was handmade with a jewel brad , some card candy and feather from stash and the swirl is a Marianne creatable die, here is a glimpse of the inside

Personalised Christmas Cards & A Thank You

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, I did, even though I had a sickness bug from Christmas Eve which made me feel a bit rubbish on Christmas Day , however hubby then had to cook Christmas dinner, which was a nice change , fortunately for him I had already cooked the turkey and prepared all the veg the day before. Still he did a good job and didnt even moan about it , think I must have looked really bad!!

I had a few requests before christmas for some personalised cards , so I will post them all in one go before the New Year. The first one is four of the penguins from the set from Pink Petticoat put together , I quite liked having the 4 in a row like this .

And this one was for my friends hubby , which was my favourite as I love this pale turquoise colour I have to give credit for this layout to Jules at Always With a Heart , you can see her card here such a CAS layout but very effective , my card was done on a large 8x8 card by craftwork cards.

Hope you all have a fabulous night tonight if you are up to anything exciting, sadly my hubby is nightshift tonight so we will call him just after midnight, when he will be driving down a very quiet runway watching all the fireworks going off around Edinburgh.

The Blue Wicked Zumba Queen

I dont know if any of you get strange requests for cards but I get some really odd ones!, an xbox baby card, an engagement card with reference to the 9th hole at Turnberry and the latest was this one a blue wicked Zumba teacher! I kept it simple with the sentiment the main focal point with the blue wicked bottle where the embellishments would go . The inside was also decorated a little too. With some bakers twine and a flower I didn't think it needed any more .

I hope you are all having a lovely Sunday , I am not doing too much today as feeling a little tired after my works xmas do last night which didn't finish till 2am and it was 3.30 am before I was under the duvetdue to all the drop offs from the bus on the way home!

Boy was it freezing here today and I had promised to take kids to see Arthur Christmas on a rare afternoon off work but ended up on the sofa with a headache :-(. I have promised to take them on Sunday instead, better not let them down again , my daughter is so looking forward to it .

Onto my card: A Tatty Ted die cut topper was used on this card , used my Nesties to cut out the comp printed sentiment , then left the Nestie in place while I inked the centre around the words, the paper was from my local craft shop and a bit ribbon and a punched butterfly finished it off .

My Gorgeous Great Niece Denni,Nappy cake & card

Was just tidying up my photos and realised I hadnt posted the card I made for my gorgeous niece Denni born in September on the same day that my twin nieces have their birthday , she was a bit early so we had to wait a week to see her as kids are not allowed in the hospital unless they are siblings , my daughter wouldn't allow me to go see her I before she could!! Here is the card I made

the image is from bugaboo and the papers are from craft creations , some velvet ribbon and and a few pearls on some punched flowers, the sentiment is LOTV . Below is a picture of the nappy cake presented in a basket of baby goodies we gave her

She is just a wee cutie but the title Great Aunt makes me feel so old but then my sister in law is a granny 4 years younger than me!

Another gift set for a new baby using Louie from Digistamp Boutique and downloaded paper from Pink petticoat, yes I know its gingham again but so loving this just now and I have 52 shades to get through!! I have coloured these cuties with prismas and have coloured my ribbon with my promarkers to match the blue ( a tip from one of the staff from my local craft supplier) a wee bit card candi from Craftwork cards to finish off .

One sheet does Plenty !

Think I have gone a bit orange and red loopy with my snippets and I got a little carried away, these are the rest of the cards made with just one 8 x 8 sheet of design paper by Craftwork Cards,I didn't waste any of this sheet, the only waste was the over cuts from the punched out shapes that were so tiny I couldn't punch out another butterfly or flower, very thrifty!!

so these will be my third entry into the Less is More Challenge and also for Jules Snippets

and here are some really didi 99 x 96 cards by Craftwork cards with the tiniest of snippets

And the last red & orange ones are here although I dont think this will be the last time I use these colours together as they are autumny ( is that even a word) but quite fresh and zingy too!

Less is More Challenge 40 Red & Orange & Snippets

Got a bit carried away with this once I got started as I had made one card with some orange paper then remembered that the Less is More challenge 40 challenge was red and orange so did one for that here

This was the original card that I had made with just orange which I cant make up my mind if I like

then I decided I would use up the whole sheet of paper which was 8 x8 and made the grand total of 13 cards from it (not including the card blanks ,I will post the rest later when I have photographed them, but her is another one using up some snippets so have decided it would qualify for Jules craft snippets challenge

I now try to use up my snippets for smaller simpler cards and put into packs of ten , as my scraps drawers are bursting at the seams and it is such a waste of beautiful papers.

Anyway enough of my ramblings off to see what you have all been up to and have a baby card to make

Cool Dude! and a Strange Request!

It was my lovely daughter Rhiann's 9th birthday yesterday so not had much time on here as I was organising her party etc , will post her card later.

Have a couple of cards which I forgot to post, one for my nephew and this image is strangely very like him. The next card was a request for a tomboy 40th who plays xbox war games but loves pink!!! here is what I came up with......

I made a matching money wallet and envobox for it to go in which was not easy as it was larger than an 8x8 card. I think I covered the request my friend was happy with it anyway. He has now asked me for a baby card with something x boxy on it ????? watch this space , you dont have get some funny requests when you make cards I had one last week for an engagement card with reference to the 9th hole at Turnberry as that was where he proposed! oh well happy to oblige! lol

I know its not thanksgiving yet but my friend has ordered this card for posting soon so had to make it early, the papers are My MindS Eye and I have used my new label nesties for the sentiment which was done on the pc first . i have also inked the edges a little but not sure if it shows up in the photo.

This is for my gorgeous niece Morgan who along with her twin sister Evie (card to follow) , the image is from Lily of the valley which was a batch of free ones with Papercraft magazine, I think I may have to buy some now as they are lovely images and fab to colour. Made this for my lovely cousin for her 40th , she loves black and white and I just love these papers from my local supplier, my friend at work makes jewellery so I got her to make a lovely crystal hair comb for her. I made a little gift bag to match to put it in.

This card was for a Hearts man who always wears a shirt and tie so thought this PB image was perfect , coloured with prisma's and used my nesties and some craftwork cards craft paper with a silver spot , mounted onto some dark red and silver card stock and printed off the sentiment on the PC and bobs your uncle or should I say John!

Weddings Weddings Weddings!

Its been all weddings lately, not sure how many weddings my friend has had this year but its been a lot! This time she wanted a matching money envelope to go with the card, kept this simple with a diamante heart threaded with wide organza ribbon mounted on craftwork cards paper trimmed with mirri , the personalised sentiment was printed directly onto the card and some bling added.

The next one was a pink petticoat image coloured with prismas and some glitter added and the sentiment was also printed ono the card

Naughty Nurse!

Forgot to post this card a while ago, it was my my friends hubby's 40th and my friend is a nurse so thought this Bugaboo image which can be purchased here and I was delighted to get an email from Bugaboo saying they have featured two of my cards on the page for one of their images here how cool is that?

Anyway onto my card the image as stated earlier coloured with pro markers and mounted onto co ordinations card , the sentiment and the text at the bottom were done on the pc and was all mounted onto black card stock and faux stitching with a white gel pen to finish.

This A4 card was commissioned to give to my cousin up north from her 2 SIL and her friends for her 40th birthday , the request was for pink, black and white, shoes, dresses or bags, bling, feathers and fun. I hope this fitted the bill , there was also a few other things I had to include and I put these on the inside, I made the box with a black lid to keep with the theme. Glad to say she loved the card, I will post the one I gave to her when I have downloaded the pics.

Sweet Sixteen

16th card was made for my cousin to give to her daughter, she is really good at clarinet and therefore she wanted a musical theme, I made this backing paper myself on powerpoint by downloading an image of notes and repeated the pattern. Also used my nesties, MS punch and nellen skellen die.

The inside was decoarated and personalised too

Black & white is really popular just now

Its my oldest sons 13th birthday so have just come back from Frankie & Benny's , feeling stuffed, I will post his card later this week as havent photographed it yet , also had quite a few request for black and white just now 1st up is a guest book and card and below is a birthday card for my friends sister

first made this for a friend in Dubai to give to someone over here, I had to get my hubby to deliver it to a girl who works at the Airport (where hubby works) and therefore had to wrap it and put on a matching gift tag. They used it as a guest book as they did'nt have one already. Below is it wrapped in celophane and tied with ribbon.

and finally a birthday card for my friends sister , love this paper from my local stockist its just not the cheapest as its by the A4 sheet, sentiment was on the pc and I cant remember where I got the wee dresses from

Seem to be having a wee problem with blogs I have decided to follow they dont seem to be showing on my blog list , hopefully I will figure it out , anyway onto my card which was made for a friend who wanted one not too flowery as her friend is quite a trendy and 'mad' girl, so hopefully this fitted the bill.

A Card at Last and an Apology

First my apology for not being around much lately, things have been really busy and not had a minute, just had time to make my card requests but not much time to visit you all or post them up , I promise to catch up with blogland tonight.

Now onto my card which was made for my friend for her best friends 40th and she wanted something special. I had made the card below for her husbnad to give to her for her 40th which I hadnt posted up (dont know why) and she loved it so much she wanted a pink version for her friend.
these cards do take a bit longer to make but the finished article stands out in a display , perfect for special friends.

Who loves Cadbury?

Cadbury purple that is but I also love the chocolate too, who doesnt?

This was the request for this wedding set of Card, (shown previous post) guest book, keepsake box and photo album for a wedding gift, really enjoyed making this as its my favourite colour, my friend is collecting on Sunday so hope she is happy with it.

I have shown the lids off the boxes and also made her a wee matching tag.

I have printed all the labels on the computer and matted onto shimmer purple paper and embossed the backing card on my hougie in a lattice effect and punched out the butterflies and added some bling with some stickles on the crossing of the lines of the embossing.

Hedgie is posting his Love Letters for this weeks I Love Promarkers Challenge (64 Song Title)

Hedgie has been coloured with Promarkers and mounted on Nesties inked with Versacolour, sentiment is from Craftwork Cards and the flowers are punched, the wee strip of paper is from my scrap drawer and is made by my local supplier.

I have entered him into the challenge above and my song title is Love Letters sung by Elvis,

I also went for a haircut today and the beautician in the salon had just started doing these minx toenails so I thought I would give it a wee go as the weather has been so nice my tone up flip flops have never been off my feet, I will apologise for my horrible feet ( they need some TLC)but at least may nails look nice lol!

Less is More Week 11 Acetate, oh! and me!

I have decided to enter a challenge! Not another one!

that must be about 3 this year!!, yes I am a bit slow at the challenges but I am definately going to make an effort this year, however, I'm not really impressed with my effort but I will give it a whirl anyway.
I am entering into the Less is More Acetate challenge as I really like LIM cards.

I punched out 3 flowers with acetate and ran over them with my embossing tool towards teh tip of the flower to give shape and the whiteness, I would have preferred a larger flower but I dont have a big enough punch and would have also liked a white sentiment , but didn't have anything to do that with either, so I have used a swirly peel off and a lush brad for the centre of the flower, a wee bit white ribbon and that was me , think its a wee bit too plain but it was a first attempt with acetate for something other than for 3d glass effect!

Also finally got a picture of me on my blog , at long last , and I dont resemble a plum at all!! I don't think I do anyway! My son took the picture for me , he's a clever wee boy!

Male Retirement Card

My friend needed a special retirement card and wanted it themed due to his job,(no prizes for guessing what it is!) think this fitted the bill! excuse the pun!

I downloaded the hat from the internet, cut it out and glossed it.

Used my nesties and my MS punch and the paper is their own paper from my local supplier, sentiments on the pc and a few bits of card candy.

Mothers Days & Spring Go Together

Had 5 mother's day cards to make this year!2 for my friend , 1 for my other friend and 1 each for my one and MIL, hubby was chancing it and asked me to make another one , I asked who for and he said for myself, sent him packing on that one!!! the one above was for my Mil and the next one was one of my friends ones, used the same layout but used different papers and colours , I forgot to photograph my mums one but it was done with light green paper.

40th Card for a Man

Oh how we hate doing mens cards, I think it is because we cant pretty them up with flowers, ribbon and glitter cos all us crafter's are quite girly when it comes down to it!

Anyway , my old work colleague asked me to do a 40th for her hubby and he is a big Ranger's fan so rather than do a football theme just thought I would use the bright blue as the colour is lovely.

Couldn't post before his birthday which is today, just in case she was on my site and he saw it!

Had to do a large wedding card for my friend and have to give credit to one of my docraft buddies Claire for the idea of the flowers round the nestie as this is one of her ideas. I embossed the backing card on my score board and done the sentiment on the computer , just after I punched the last flower I broke my punch! the metal bit that the flower comes out broke clean off, think I may be over using it !

Hi all hope you are having a good weekend , I have been painting all day in my youngest sons room, lime green and blue!!! Will post pics when done.

New Colour Combo

Onto my card , I was asked for a 21st card and wanted to make it modern so I tried black and white with a bit of bright green and was quite happy how it turned out

This set was also made at christmas time and have never had chance to post , it was made as a christmas present for a couple getting married in April

My friend had a little mishap with the guest book and dropped it in the snow!, it was all splattered with muddy marks and I tried to revive the cover but had to recover the box in the end with handmade paper and put on a new personalised label and embellishments. She was over the moon her gift wasn't totally spoiled.

My card was made for my friend for her wee girl and one from her sister , her birthday was between christmas and new year so it is a bit late! I cant believe i forgot to photograph the one I made for her myself !!!

The images are both from digistamp boutique and the red one coloured with promarkers and the bear coloured with my new prismas I got for Christmas . Not really got the hang of them yet but I am getting there, gone through quite a few images trying too!

So glad its Friday tomorrow, hoping to get some cards done over the weekend but I do want to paint my craft room downstairs. I had moved upstairs and was sharing a room with the ironing table (thinking it may encourage me to keep it up to date) ha! the lure of my craft table won every time! My boys decided they want to have their own rooms again so I need to vacate the bedroom and move downstairs , but it needs to be painted first as it used to be a wee playroom and is needing a facelift. My daughter is having some grandparent time so hopefully get started with the paint. On to my card and album ..........Ruby Wedding card was made using the following:

computer for the sentiments and names, cut out with nesties, I embossed the backing card with my scoring board into a criss cross design which you cant really see in the photo, the flowers are from wild orchid and some are punched and I have put some wee pearls in the centres, ribbon from stash, I have made a personalised album to match below

Wedding Card and Box

Yes another one be they seem to be popular just now, my friend wanted this box and card for a wedding she has soon so managed to finish this at last as its been a busy week , the flowers were a mix of Wild Orchid flowers and punched flowers with little pearls in the middle, the wedding cakes I got from my local craft shop but think you can get them from Mad About Cards, used my nesties and my new daisy embossing folder that I got from hubby for christmas and all the sentiments were made on the computer.

Am I the only one who makes cards, doesn't like them so they go in the bin? My first attempt at the anniversary card for my friend, I didn't like! So I made this one with Coco Bear from Digistamp Boutique. Its for her to give to her hubby but when she collected it I suddenly wondered if it was too girly ! Do you think so? She seemed happy with it. Entered into Allsorts challenge I also had to make 40th card for her friend shown below.

I am right into these stand up cards just now, I used to think they were a bit complicated to make but they are really quite easy aren't they?

The last card she wanted was a xmas card for her hubby so this time I used a digi image from pink petticoat , these penguins are really cute!

I kept this one clean and simple , I am also into these just now as they are so quick and easy once you have coloured the images.

Was asked recently to do a keepsake box for a 21st, matching card and photo album, was also told she likes ivory and gold but as I didnt want it to look weddingy I added a bit of chocolate brown to the edges of the flowers and for the figures. My friend was absolutely delighted with these and the recipient loved them too.

Made this card from my hubby's friend to give to his wife, unfortunately I used the wrong glitter on the flowers and felt it looked a bit christmassy (first image) so I pulled off my handmade flowers and used some of my new flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts instead (second image)and was a lot happier with it.

Made these for my lovely friend Kirsty and her new hubby Kevin as their wedding gift, there is a Keepsake Box, Guest Book and a Photo Album, these were personalised and decorated to match her wedding invites which I did for her in the summer, her wedding was yesterday and we went along for the evening reception and had a great night, she was a stunning bride too.

Keepsake Box to match Guest Book and card

We have had snow up to our armpits (well almost) this week, (so glad I bought snow boots a month ago) unfortunately I can't use this as an excuse not to get to work as it is only 10 mins along the road, hope you have not been snowed in too much where you are.

The keepsake box was made to match the guest book and card I did earlier and was requested as an extra at the last minute, its quite a large box , big enough to hold all their cards and bits and pieces from their wedding day. I have to add that the dripping hearts idea came from someone else but I can't remember where , so if you know who's idea it was let me know so I can give them full credit.

Also the was asked for some invites for a Christmas party, she loved the sample shown , so spent a whole day making 50 for her , which she also loved.

Sorry I have not been around for a while, its been a difficult year but hopefully I will try and be a better blogger in the next few months. I haven't even taken many photos of the cards I have done but this one is for my wee girl who is 8 on Thursday and she is my wee cupcake! Hope you like it!

The requirements are that I tell you 5 interesting things about myself and then pass the award along to 5 other people , so here we go

When our first baby was due we picked a boy name and a girl name and kept them secret, when we had our son we still never told anyone the name incase we ever had a girl and wanted to use it for her. She eventually appreared after 2 boys (dont really think I would have had more than three so was delighted we could use the name Rhiann). Our poor second son never had a name for a couple of days as we couldn't decide on a second boy name but he suits it really well.
I have tried loads of crafty things over the years ,cake making, knitting (machine and hand), cross stitch, sewing but I am a little impatient with crafting and like an immediate result therefore cardmaking suits me to a tee.
Made our wedding invitations in 2001 but never thought handmade birthday cards etc could look so good and never tried cards again until 2007 and now I am hooked but I cringe at my first cards, (bet most of us do).
First met my husband when he walked into our office in 1995 to sort out a pay query with my friend on payroll and thought " he's a bit of all right!" even though we had both worked at the Airport for the same company for 5 years before that. We chatted briefly and he later asked me out now been together 14 and a half years.
I hate conflicting noise ie a tv on and music playing within earshot of each other it really does my head in!!!!

6) Just after my 40th birthday I got stopped while shopping for a survey for 19 to 25 year olds (maybe she was being funny or wasnt paying attention but I'm telling myself its because I still look like a spring chicken !!!lol

7) I thought when I had kids everything would be tidy with shoes etc all lined up ready for school the night before and they would queue up at the door to kiss me goodbye before going to school early (ha! what planet was I living on!!!!!! my house seems to be total chaos and I'm chasing them out the door to stop them being late whilst shoving lunch into their school bags, I dont think my crafting has helped this situation lately.

I am also going to cheat and only add another two as its lovely to get these awards but this has taken me nearly all night whilst watching the X Factor (poor Stacey but the boys are great) and I need to get to bed ,very busy day tomorrow, football, parties and a my hubby is doing a photoshoot for my friends kids and nephew and needs my help , oh well just have to leave the housework again!!!

Easel Calendar For Teacher

I have been wanting to try one of these for a while and got the idea from a docrafter to make it into a calendar with a poem on it .

It was made for my sons teacher who is leaving at xmas to have a baby , he has had her for two years but wont be back to work when he leaves for high school in the summer , I think he will miss her and picked this poem as he said it describes him exactly.

Paper I think is daisy bucket and card is from paper mill , glitter card for flowers were from a friend who saw 8 sheets in a pack for 69p (what a bargain! she said they just sometimes have great deals on random things and saw this and thought I would find it useful) how nice was that ?

My Baby's 7th Birthday Card

My youngest is turning 7 so why not a pink fluffy cutesy girly card, well...............she asked for this image coloured with purple and to use this paper, I'm surprised she never asked to make it herself...............At least she will get a bit of surprise with the layout as long as she doesnt look on here before next Thursday. I did manage to put on some glitter and ribbon , flowers and a gem or two although the glitter doesnt really show in the photo. Hi to all you bloggers, my kids have been at their Granny and Grandads since yesterday so I managed to make a few cards last night and the one below is for the promarkers challenge and I have finally manged to link my picture onto my comment yahay............ Didnt get any cards done today as too busy cleaning with the rug rats being away but will definately get some more done tomorrow. Bye for now.

Passion for Promarkers Sandstone & Blue Pearl

Going to have a go a the promarkers challenge with this I have used the following:

Tilda coloured with Sandstone & blue Pearl for all her clothing and her bike, flowers and trainers, her hair is cinnamon, cuttlebug swiss dots and papermania backing paper , flowers EK success punch and Just For You freebie stamp from creativity,craftwork card candy ribbon and blue card from stash. Added some gold stickles to flowers, sentiment and her laces for a bit of bling.

Cherry (pollycraft image) was coloured in pastel green and magenta this time CCSR papers again, ( I love this colour) gems, ribbon and flowers from stash, peel off coloured with whispers pens. Thanks for looking....................K x

Chocolate Cherry

I have coloured Chocolate Cherry with Henna, Cinamon, Pastel Pink, Pastel Yellow and

Vanilla, paper by CCSR , ribbon, flowers from stash and a few gems for a bit glitz. probalby would have made this more glitzy if I had checked the challenge before making but there's nothing more girly than Chocolate .Going to try and enter this for Girly and Glitzy Promarkers challenge if I can manage to link it properly. I am a complete novice at this but I will give it a go anyway.

This card was made to use up the leftover DCWV posies paper used on two other cards, i have not done much watercolouring and dont think this is as good as I would have liked , still waste not want not...........K x
